MLC Nicholas Learning Centre
The new MLC Nicholas Learning Centre was designed to create a ‘learning community’ aimed to balance access into the heart of the campus with wellbeing and best practice learning.
Working closely with the teaching staff, and guided by research, McIIdowie Partners designed a variety of acoustically sound flexible and reconfigurable learning settings within each community.
The award-winning design at MLC Nicholas Learning Centre for girls features 18 single and 9 dual acoustic glass sliding doors plus 8 operable walls. The operable walls feature inset whiteboards for student collaboration and brainstorming sessions which can then be opened up for larger group gatherings or learning sessions.
The inclusion of glazed acoustic sliding doors throughout the design allows for the natural flow of light, easy and flexible configuration for activities of the moment and optimal acoustic performance. This prevents noise from interrupting other FLE’s and visual connectivity of spaces, supporting the academic learning and wellbeing of teachers and students alike.
