Waltzing Matilda Centre

The centre had been a true celebration of the Winton Shire’s rich history and a devastating event for the Winton community. Thus, the restoration project was far more than simply a rebuild, with the final destination a rebirth for Winton and its connection to outback Australia.

On the 20th of April 2018, the Waltzing Matilda Centre reopened its doors to the public following a tragic fire that ravaged the iconic Australian landmark in 2015. Located in the small town of Winton, Queensland, the fire destroyed the vast majority of the building, along with the treasured history housed within it.
